This pandemic forces us to review the foundations of who we are, what we do and also why. Calls for help and clarity are coming from all sides. Discouragement is expressed, but also an invitation to reaffirm loud and clear what the place of theater should be in our world.

The cultural milieu publicly discusses the boundaries between entertainment and art, powerful urges to stand up emerge. We have never read so many articles in the media that plead the cause of artists and their fundamental role in our society.
In our School, program managers witness exceptional creative outbursts day after day. In the turmoil, touching, capsizing outbursts of humanity emerge. Affirmation is at the heart of every gesture of our students. There is a flagrant desire on their part to be and to become artists. And today, we feel the need to name all the admiration that passes through us.
Nothing is simple.
Nothing is perfect.
The debates to be held are fascinating.
The everyday weighs. But several times a week, at the turn of a presentation, a conversation, something bigger than us appears: this mad desire to surpass ourselves, the deep and assured desire to exist, to believe.
Since January alone, at the heart of a new wave, behind closed doors, texts have been written and heard, carrying playful, political and intimate universes. Creative workshops were presented, and each evening was new, each vision was committed, unique. We have seen scenographic proposals being born. They are solid, beautiful, detailed.
We are privileged to experience all this in turmoil, we know it and we savor it. We live what everyone wants: to be together. We are in solidarity with our community, we agree with its demands to have a clear operating plan. And today, our missive aims to let some light through.
A great generation is on the way.
She inspires us.
She confuses us.
She pushes us.
She is worried about the future, but we know that in doubt, she moves forward.
And we hope that together we will be able to welcome it. It must.
Let’s be crazy and take advantage of the momentum to change the way we practice the profession. In doing so, let’s make room for everyone. The coming generation has ideas and keys.
Let’s open the door for him.
