We already noticed this in December 2023, in Dijon, when the former Misses (including Sylvie Tellier) paid tribute to Geneviève de Fontenay, their former boss: the Miss France competition is an important part of French heritage. Every year, millions of viewers follow the Miss France election, and have done so for over 100 years. This is why the Miss France Society announces this April 8, 2024 that it is in the process of opening a museum entirely dedicated to the competition!
Historic news for the Miss France competition
It will take place in Saint-Raphaël, in a Belle Époque villa during the summer of 2025, and the establishment installed in a Belle Époque villa, the first of its kind, will be entirely devoted to the world of Miss France, explains an official press release. The fans are not at the end of their surprises, since on site, a “beautiful staging to retrace the history and evolution of the competition but also to reveal the incredible creations of the different costumes for the Miss France election” is waiting for them.
An experience in “total immersion through the rooms, between tradition and creation”, with “a collection of more than a hundred unique costumes, worn by the candidates“, “crowns and sashes” to discover.
Remnants of another time
Behind this initiative, Frédéric Gilbert, the new president of the Miss France Society and producer of the Miss France election, believes that it was urgent to reveal to the general public “the incredible work done on these costumes which highlights French know-how”. An observation that he made with the competition’s costume designer, Amandine Catala, at the Miss France stock, where outfits that required more than 200 hours of work are still stored.
