“The meeting” of the Ministries of Sports and Education “is a great association” for sport in France, reacts Friday January 12 Jean-Yves Robin, the national technical director of the French Fencing Federation, on franceinfo. When Gabriel Attal’s new government was announced on Thursday, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra kept her position as Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and also regained the portfolios of National Education and Youth.

“It’s the logical continuation of the aspiration” from France “to make this year a year of great sporting practice”, rejoices Jean-Yves Robin. He regrets that the Ministry of Sports has “often been (…) associated with other ministries: Health, Social Cohesion”.

“There, it seems, we are taking another place, another dimension and perhaps a new development,” hopes the technical director. He would like to see, through this nomination, “a recognition of the place of sport in the environment of France”in order not to “not lose the Ministry of Sports at the end of the Games”.
