A good week of discounts for chicken

In order to help our readers cope with, among other things, the repercussions of rising food prices, our new collaborator Myriam Gendron, creator of the site
offers a low-cost menu every week based on the best grocery discounts of the week.

Grocery store discounts 11 to 17 January 2024

This week, we are treated to very well-stocked flyers with discounts on animal proteins, while we find several at their lowest price of the last year (if not more!). This is particularly the case for frozen pork tenderloin at IGA (only two days, act quickly, because quantities are limited), boneless chicken breasts at Metro and ground chicken at Maxi. Now is the time to stock up if you need it and want to enjoy these deals for a long time!

Freezing tip

For optimal preservation of meat in the freezer, remember to remove it from its original container and plastic wrap, which are not intended for this purpose and which do not protect it adequately. We opt for a container (or bag) designed for freezing and from which we remove as much air as possible. This avoids oxidation as much as possible and limits cold burns.

It’s cold to start the barbecue so I suggest you simply grill the breasts in a pan (between 6 and 8 minutes per side should do the trick). Take the opportunity to bake two more if you want to eat the stuffed sweet potato meal later in the week. Since it is the English cucumber that is featured, use the latter (a third will be enough). For smaller pieces, cut half rounds rather than slices.
