A Good Samaritan brings back $ 3000 found in the street in Mont-Tremblant

The holiday spirit was manifested Thursday in Mont-Tremblant, when a Good Samaritan reported to the police an envelope of 3,000 US dollars that he had found on the edge of a sidewalk.

“Without hesitation, he went to the police station to hand over this amount of money, hoping that the legitimate owner would be found,” said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in a press release.

After a few hours of research and several calls to businesses located near the site of the discovery, the employee of a business mentioned to the police that a person had come forward regarding the loss of an envelope of this amount.

Thanks to the contact details written down by the employee, the person could be notified and went to the police station to collect their property.

“The person arrived at the police station in tears and really wanted to thank this Good Samaritan for giving us this sum. I called the Good Samaritan who agreed to come to the police station. It was hard not to be moved by the reaction of the two people when they saw each other, ”said Sergeant Cadotte.

The provincial police take advantage of this fine ending to remind that any valuables found on the public highway must be returned to the police.
