The February holidays are fast approaching, in less than 15 days for zone B. So in the ski resorts of Savoie and Haute-Savoie, the directors of the tourist office follow the reservations in real time and for the moment the news is pretty good. In our two departments, the occupancy rate is 77% according to the Savoie Mont Blanc observatory. “We are almost reaching pre-health crisis levels and that is excellent news,” rejoices Carole Duverney, Head of Studies.
The occupancy rate is even higher in some resorts such as La Plagne. “The occupancy rate for these February holidays is 80% over the four weeks. It’s a fairly encouraging situation because we know that we still have filling potential. We are at the level we knew in the past two years ago before the pandemic”, explains Rémy Counil the director of the tourist office of this Savoyard resort. In Haute-Savoie, the trend is the same. At Les Carroz d’Arâches, for example, the director of the tourist office is delighted with similar occupancy rates distributed relatively evenly over all of these winter holidays.
This increase in reservations can be explained by a real desire to ski after a white season, but also by a recent easing of health restrictions. The British, for example, can again come and ski in our mountains provided they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The stays of this foreign clientele canceled at Christmas are indeed postponed in the coming weeks.
