A breakdown on the Orange mobile network has prevented access to certain numbers since the afternoon of Tuesday May 30, throughout the territory. The operator advises dialing 112 to reach the emergency services.
Since 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, customers of the Orange operator have been victims of a giant outage. The whole of the territory is concerned, in particular in Calvados, Dordogne, Loire, Orne or even in Lyon (Rhône). “Indeed, it does not sound at all”, observes a user. Depending on the operator, it is also difficult to reach emergency numbers, such as 17 or 18. It is advisable to use 112, the European emergency number.
Ongoing investigations to identify the origin of the failure
This is not the first time that the telephone company has been the victim of an incident of such magnitude. By January, many customers had already been affected. In June 2021, the operator had experienced a historic outage. Thousands of users had tried to reach the emergency services in vain, and five people died as a result of these disruptions. In the evening, Orange indicates that investigations are underway to identify the origin of the failure, and resolve it as soon as possible.
