A policeman from Seine-Maritime was indicted for rape and remanded in custody, on January 5th. The information, revealed by Paris Normandie, was confirmed by the Rouen prosecutor’s office to France Bleu.
It was at the Lillebonne hospital, at the very beginning of the year, that the victim confides in the rape she has just suffered to the medical staff. The latter obviously encourages him to file a complaint.
The suspect acknowledges the sexual relationship
During her testimony, the woman therefore accused a gendarme from the Rives-en-Seine brigade of having raped her, taking advantage of the authority conferred on him by his military status. The man was immediately taken into custody.
During his hearing, he admitted having had a sexual relationship with the victim, but he affirms for his part that the two were consenting. The Rouen public prosecutor’s office has opened a judicial investigation for aggravated rape by a person in authority, due to his status as a gendarme. He was remanded in custody.
The gendarmerie of Seine-Maritime does not make any comment on this case.
