After a twelve-year-old Jewish girl was raped by teenagers, a rally was organized in Courbevoie on Friday, June 21, in support of the victim and her family.
A message of unity was delivered by the mayor of Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine) in front of the Town Hall, Friday June 21. He denounced the horror experienced by a twelve-year-old girl, raped by teenagers. “The horror of the gesture was compounded by the infamy of the word: anti-Semitism”, he lamented. Upset, many residents arrived early in the morning to show their support for the victim and his family.
“The whole community is traumatized. We are unhappy and somewhere we feel more and more insecure”, testifies a young person of Jewish faith, present at the gathering. For another, older, anti-Semitism has become “a national scourge, like cancer”. The day before, in Paris, hundreds of people gathered to denounce this crime. Anti-Semitic acts have increased by 300% in France compared to the first quarter of 2023.
