A day to mark with a stone of the “White House” in the history of Losc. Two weeks after a failed entry into contention against Sporting Portugal, Lille achieved a landmark feat by beating Real Madrid, reigning European champion, undefeated for 14 matches in the Champions League, Wednesday October 2 at the Pierre stadium -Mauroy (1-0). Applied, they were rewarded by a goal from Jonathan David on penalty (45e+2) and held their score advantage in the second half.
The recipe to beat Real Madrid? Thomas Meunier gave it on Tuesday, at a press conference: “If we do simple things, it can only go well. The result will depend on the pace, the impact but you have to play with your feet, ensure your passes… And there is no need to be Ronaldo and Messi to achieve this”. And if the Belgian did not start on Wednesday evening, his teammates applied his advice to the letter.
