Aged 22 and 23, the men from Sept-Îles were driving on Route 138 in a car when the driver lost control of the steering wheel, according to information from the Sûreté du Québec.

The vehicle then deviated from its lane to find itself facing an oncoming van. The van was unable to avoid the collision.

The two young men unfortunately died in the accident. The driver of the van, a 48-year-old resident of Baie-Comeau, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Emergency services attended around 9:20 a.m. Monday. Route 138 was closed intermittently to allow analysis of the scene by a collision investigation investigator from the Sûreté du Québec.
