An inmate from the Fresnes penitentiary center, who was hospitalized at Kremlin-Bicêtre (Val-de-Marne), escaped on the night of Saturday September 30 to Sunday October 1, shortly before 1 a.m., reported the prosecutor’s office, confirming information from Parisian. He broke an emergency window to get out, franceinfo learned. At the time of his escape, he was barefoot and wearing only boxers and a hospital gown.

The man was still wanted on Sunday morning, after being seen on the hospital construction site after his escape, police told AFP. An investigation into escape has been opened, said the Créteil public prosecutor’s office. Resident in Marseille, the 26-year-old detainee was in pre-trial detention for drug trafficking and criminal association. Still according to the prosecution, he was taken from his cell on Saturday evening to be taken to hospital.

This escape follows the escapes from Fleury-Mérogis prison (Essonne) in mid-September. Two detainees had escaped during an outing in the Fontainebleau forest: one of the two was arrested Wednesday evening in the Paris suburbs, in Pantin, while he was selling drugs at a deal point.
