Since the beginning of the Mazan rape trial, Gisèle Pelicot has become a new feminist icon. Her fight has given rise to rallies all over France, and even to a fresco that appeared on a wall in Gentilly.
In less than a month, Gisèle Pelicot’s face has become the symbol of the fight against violence against women. Her courage is now displayed in a mural, such as in Gentilly (Val-de-Marne).As soon as there is something scandalous, it must be brought to the forefront, it must not be hidden.“, says a passerby.
Each time she enters or leaves the Avignon court (Vaucluse), Gisèle Pelicot, the main victim of the Mazan rape trial, is applauded. In the largest cities in France, since the weekend of September 14 and 15, demonstrators have even numbered in the thousands. The wave of support has spread on social networks, as well as internationally. The feminist movement is also carried by a few personalities, such as Nabilla or the singer Renaud.
