Yoann Parizot went after his dream: it’s been years since this biologist, originally from Menton, took a one-way ticket to Indonesia.

Yoann Parizot, 38, is a Frenchman who lives in a remote village on the island of Sulawesi, in eastern Indonesia. Of all the Indonesian islands, it is one of the wildest and least known. This island, which resembles a paradise, does not suffer from mass tourism. Yoann Parizot fell in love with it. A marine biologist by training, it was during an internship carried out 14 years ago that the Frenchman discovered the reefs for the first time. Since then, he no longer wants to leave them.

In the shallow waters, the marine fauna and flora are very well preserved. The island of Sulawesi benefits from a very stable weather, making the corals very resistant. Yoann Parizotfrom Menton (Alpes-Maritimes)built overwater bungalows with his own hands nine years ago. He therefore improvised as a hotelier. Tourists come here looking for comfort reduced to the strict minimum. The man married an Indonesian and had three children. He now speaks the language. Yoann Parizot does not see himself returning to France.
