“We have heard the sad news”, said the Quai d’Orsay in a written response. A Frenchman was killed, “mortally wounded in battle” in Ukraine, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, June 3. The ministry presents its condolences to his family. The circumstances of his death have not yet been disclosed.

This is the third French death in Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in Ukraine on Thursday February 24. This announcement comes just four days after the death of Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff, French journalist from BFMTV, killed near Sievierodonetsk, Monday. Another journalist, Franco-Irish Pierre Zakrzewski, died on March 14 northwest of kyiv, the capital.
Earlier during the day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, recalled that “France stands in solidarity with the hardships suffered by the Ukrainian people”in a communicated. The fighting continues on the 100th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
