Mickaël Siacca joined the International Legion the day before the bombing of the Yavoriv military base (Ukraine) on March 13. He was there at the time of the strikes, and has now returned home to France.

Out of breath, the French engaged in Ukraine escaped a bombardment on March 13. “The base has been destroyed. There was a bombardment just now. I have friends who are dead”, says Mickaël Siacca, who films himself with his phone. The man had just spent his first night at the Yavoriv military base (Ukraine), a few kilometers from the Polish border. He had joined volunteers from the Ukrainian International Legion.

This 40-year-old computer scientist had left family and work to take up arms alongside the Ukrainian forces, without any military experience. He signed a contract the day before the attack, guaranteeing his commitment until the end of the conflict. His life as a soldier lasted less than 48 hours. Mickaël quickly returned to France, due to the bombardment of the Yavoriv military base.
