Red Sea: a French frigate targeted by fire
Red Sea: a French frigate targeted by fire – (France 2)
A French army frigate was targeted on the night of Saturday December 9 to Sunday December 10 by drones launched from Yemen. The intercepted drones bear the mark of the Houthi rebels.
A French frigate, patrolling the Red Sea, was targeted by drones fired by an Islamist group from Yemen. The ship has been deployed since mid-November alongside the American aircraft carrier Eisenhower in a highly strategic commercial crossroads between Yemen and Egypt. The French fired twice to neutralize the threat.
Support from Hamas
The Houthi Islamists are increasing their attacks in the Red Sea, such as with a commando operation on November 19. They seized an Israeli cargo ship in just minutes before entering the command post and overpowering the crew. The Houthi rebels then showed their support for the Palestinians.
Since the Hamas attack on October 7, the Houthis have claimed to be part of the axis of resistance against the Jewish state and have openly declared war on Israel. Since then, the Houthis have regularly fired missiles and drones.
