Portugal: a French couple disappeared on the island of Madeira
(France 2)
On vacation on the Portuguese island of Madeira, Véronique and Laurent Blond have disappeared since March 16. Their daughter, who went on vacation with them, alerted the authorities.
A couple of French tourists have disappeared on the island of Madeira, Portugal, since Saturday March 16. Aged around fifty, Véronique and Laurent Blond had gone for a hike in the São Vicente sector, from which they never returned. Their 27-year-old daughter waited for them at the hotel before raising the alarm. They were last seen in the afternoon of that day near Porto Moniz, in Calhau.
Significant resources deployed
Searches launched by the local police have still yielded nothing on the north coast of the island of Madeira. However, significant research resources have been set up on the Portuguese island. The Madeira police, the judicial police, the Republican National Guard, civil protection and the maritime authority were thus mobilized. An investigation into a “disturbing disappearance” was opened by the public prosecutor of Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne).
