Three associations, the Association of Palestinians of France, Justice and Rights Without Borders and the March 30 Movement filed a complaint before the Paris prosecutor’s office for war crimes of “acts of torture” in the context of a “genocidal military attack ” against a Franco-Israeli soldier, France Inter learned from their lawyer on Wednesday April 17.
The associations particularly denounce a video posted on social networks at the end of February by a relative of the soldier, which featured Palestinian prisoners. In this video, a prisoner in a white jumpsuit appears with his wrists tied behind his back. The soldier filming comments on the images: “They tortured him to make him talk. Have you seen his back?” In another sequence, where we see detainees sitting on the ground blindfolded, the soldier continues: “Shut your mouths, you bitches. You were happy on October 7th, you sons of bitches.”
The associations hope for the opening of an investigation
With this complaint, transmitted on Tuesday to the prosecution, the associations hope that an investigation will be launched by French justice. Their lawyer, Gilles Devers, considers that it “There is enough evidence to file a complaint” and wish “to know if this Frenchman, who is in Israeli uniform, has not committed crimes of torture, as perpetrator or accomplice, or crimes of ill-treatment”. He believes that a “failure to react” from the prosecution “would pose a serious problem”. “Can France tolerate French people being involved and claiming torture without a thorough investigation being carried out?” he asks himself.
