In France, the seventh wave of Covid-19 is gaining momentum. The number of contaminations starts again at upwards and those over 60 are encouraged for a second booster dose. 8.5 million French people are eligible.

In pharmacies as in medical analysis laboratories, the observation is clear. The number of positive tests for Covid-19 is soaring. More than 54,000 new cases are recorded every day, on average. An increase of 41% in one week. Hospital admissions also jumped by 38%. The country is facing a seventh epidemic wave due to a sub-variant of Omicron.

To protect themselves, some choose the fourth dose. If the health authorities recommend the booster dose to people over 60 and to people at risk, the new injection could be extended to the entire population by the start of the school year. Only more than 30% of those over 60 received a fourth dose. For its part, the government retains the possibility of renewing the obligation of the health pass at the borders after July 31, end of the state of health emergency. To curb the resumption of the epidemic, infectious disease specialists recommend in particular the return to wearing a mask in public transport.
