The United Nations agency is issuing a warning message in the face of the increase in deaths during attempts to cross exiles. Monday, June 27, a boat capsized off the Libyan coast. Among the 71 people who were rescued was a four-month-old baby.

100 kilometers from the Libyan coast, migrants in danger are spotted by the ship of Doctors Without Borders, Monday, June 27. Around the dinghy, several people are clinging to debris. Suddenly, the teams see a baby, hoisted on the shoulder of a castaway. Saving him then becomes the priority. The four-month-old baby is inanimate and not breathing. The journalist who filmed testifies. “After a few seconds that seemed like hours, the baby started crying again. And suddenly, we were able to continue the operation”says Michaël Bunel.

The rescuers then try to recover the adults who are on the boat. The survivors, terrified, do not know how to swim. 23 of the 100 migrants will drown. Rescuers found the baby’s mother. All survivors were transferred to the rescue vessel. As a precaution, the baby and his mother were transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Malta, and are doing well.
