At the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s, he was one of the most famous journalists of a channel which was still called “Antenne 2”. Henri Sannier indeed presented the editions of the 20 hour newspapers between September 1987 and September 1988 and, again, from September 1990 to September 1992, alternating with Bruno Masure. He then became a very familiar face for fans of France 3 since he was, for 20 years, the editor-in-chief and presenter of Tout le sport on France 3, a program for which he was awarded in 2001 the Sept d’ gold for the best sports program.
But this great cycling enthusiast who has long commented on the Tour de France, will be the victim of a tragic accident. In 2020, while practicing his favorite sport, Henri Sannier was hit head-on by a car in the Baie de Somme, near the village of which he has been mayor since 1977. A car had hit him head-on. “Two months later”, the facilitator loses the use of his legs and his hands. It is a disease whose link with the accident is difficult to specify which forces the journalist to move from now on in a wheelchair. “As I had during this time a vaccine against the flu, no one can tell me how I caught this virus”he explains in the columns of the Journal d’Abbeville and Ponthieu Marquenterre.
“I first went to the University Hospital of Amiens where I was treated for a Guillain-Barré syndrome“, says Henri Sannier. “But the doctors who thought it was not this syndrome directed me to the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. There, I received another treatment: plasmapheresis. For four hours, they filter my blood to renew my plasma. My blood has been filtered 17 times. I continue to return to Paris every six weeks to perform plasmapheresis. I was lucky to have great teams around me.” explains the one who is now 77 years old.
