During the Miss Universe pageant, candidates must introduce themselves by pronouncing their name and the country they represent very loudly. In this exercise, there is a young woman who distinguished herself during the 2018 edition. It is Eva Colas. On the stage of the Impact Arena in Bangkok (Thailand), the former Miss Corsica, first runner-up to Maeva Coucke, let out a strange cry which earned her a few years later to still be mocked. “We put so much pressure on ourselves before going on stage saying that we have to manage to do it well”she had entrusted to France 3 Corsica. “I came in all the way, with all the lights on me, wanting to give it my all and my voice went completely off the rails. I laughed about it afterwards”.
Just before the 2022 edition won by Miss USA, R’Bonney Gabriel, she wrote: “2 seconds that have been following me for 4 years”she had published on instagram. “That’s life”she commented, reviewing the sequence, a glass of wine in hand.
In addition to the taunts of internet users, the young woman has to deal with parodies of the famous show, Saturday Night Live. In a sketch parodying the beauty contest showed several beauty queens including Miss Belgium or Miss Albania screaming. Skate champion and comedian Tony Hawk has taken to imitating Eva Colas.
