A former 1st round pick finds a taker

The Minnesota Wild signed center Sam Steel to a one-year, $825,000 contract on Tuesday.

The latter took advantage of his complete autonomy after the Anaheim Ducks decided not to present him with a qualifying offer at the end of last season, which he played with a two-pact in hand.

A first-round pick, the 30th overall, of the Ducks in the 2016 draft, Steel had six goals and 14 assists for 20 points in 68 games last season. The Albertan has 65 points, including 24 goals, in 197 career games, in addition to 77 blocked shots and 111 hits.
