The supporters were impatiently awaiting it, but this Euro football will be one of all dangers. In Berlin (Germany), the fan zone has just been inaugurated under very high security. Control of supporters, significant police presence: an unprecedented system in a tense context in Germany. Because the country faces several threats: the presence of violent hooligans and knife attacks. On social networks, a branch of the Islamic State even invited people to “score the last goal”, implying: to commit an attack in a stadium.
To analyze these risks, a police cooperation center has been set up, with experts from around the world. Border controls will be reinforced during the competition. Police officers also trained to respond in the event of an attack. They even had to postpone their vacations. In total, 22,000 members of the police will be mobilized.
