Big winner of season 7 of “The Voice” in 2018, Maëlle made an impression on viewers after being coached by Zazie. Six years after her victory, the young woman continues her career. On March 14, the singer was scheduled to perform at the “Botanique”, an emblematic concert hall located in Brussels (Belgium).
This Wednesday, March 6, 2024, this place is sadly in the news because a planned jihadist attack was allegedly carried out this weekend by the Belgian police. We then learned that the concert hall was targeted and targeted for an attack which was to occur “in a few weeks”, as announced by the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office.
We then discovered that four men, including three minors, were arrested on Sunday during a series of searches in Belgium, suspected of at least one planned attack. The quartet was in the crosshairs of the federal police in the context of two separate legal cases, in which overlaps were established very recently.
Attack foiled in Belgium: suspects arrested and charged
As revealed by our colleagues from Le Parisien, the suspects belong to the jihadist movement and exchanged messages deemed “worrying enough for the police to intervene”. The plan to attack a Brussels performance hall was particularly envisaged by the trio of minors, a source close to the matter told AFP on Monday. The Salle du Botanique being one of the best-known musical scenes in the Belgian capital, continued this source. According to the Belgian press, the three minor suspects were presented Monday to an investigating judge in Dendermonde (north) who charged them. For the moment, neither their identities nor the charges have been specified.
