As soon as the presidential election is over, it’s time for the legislative elections. Before the election of deputies on June 19 and 26, 2022, the opposition parties are negotiating fiercely to try to find agreements. The negotiations are, in particular, intense on the left. Insubordinate France and the Socialist Party meet on Wednesday April 27 to try to reach an agreement, but the discussions promise to be difficult because the PS is divided on the question. Considering an agreement with the party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, which came out on top on the left in the first round of the presidential election (22% of the vote), is a major turning point for the PS, which has often opposed LFI, particularly in Europe. But with 1.7% of the presidential vote, the PS is in great difficulty for the legislative elections and is playing its survival.
The divided PS
Within the Socialist Party, two opposing lines. The first, majority is defended by the boss of the PS Olivier Faure. He is campaigning for negotiations with LFI, while the second line, a minority, does not want to hear about it.
