The representatives of Canada’s only major baseball team were therefore unable to complete the sweep against their first rivals in 2022, those who had experienced the happiness of victory in the first two clashes of the series.
The match of the day was played in the fourth round. Trailing by five points at the start of the engagement, Rangers took advantage of the largesse of starter Hyun Jin Ryu to take the lead. The South Korean ended his match by allowing six earned runs on five hits in three and a third innings.
Coming to relieve Ryu, Julian Merryweather was unable to stop the bleeding. He gave two shots to the safety of his opponents, including a single to Corey Seager which allowed the Rangers to register their seventh point, that of the victory.
The visitors then continued on their successes. Jonah Heim and Brad Miller also took the opportunity to stretch their arms.
The Blue Jays had started the game well. They had indeed given themselves a four-point lead in the first set. George Springer and Matt Chapman produced these successes thanks to long balls.
Danny Jansen and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also kicked the ball out of bounds for Toronto. The first home run in 2022 for the son of the former glory of the Montreal Expos, however, was the last moment of celebration for the Jays. He hit his bomb in the third inning.
The formation of the Queen City now has an appointment with the New York Yankees for a series of four games presented in the Big Apple. The first duel of this one is scheduled for Monday.
