a first “installation” meeting for the 1881 Committee

It’s day 1 of Committee 1881.
This Wednesday, this working group created two weeks ago by Gerard Lopez,
owner and president of Girondins of Bordeaux,
will meet for the first time according to France Bleu Gironde. Above all, it will be a first contact for the ten or so members. Moreover, the meeting should be done by videoconference.

This first “installation” meeting will be chaired by Gérard Lopez. The Hispano-Luxembourgish businessman should set a framework and give the 1881 Committee a course. These members will then meet at least six times a year to discuss the club’s news and its future in order to make proposals to The direction. It will also have an advisory opinion on certain decision-making of the latter. The objective is to improve the territorial and historical anchoring of the club while restoring a bit of identity within it with faces known to lovers of the Girondins.

As a reminder, there will be five former players (Christian Montes, Jean Gallice, Gernot Rohr, Ludovic Obraniak and an ex-player (Sophie Istillard). They will be accompanied by several local personalities: Arielle Piazza (former sports assistant at the town hall of Bordeaux ), Andréa Kiss (mayor of Haillan), Mathieu Hazouard (deputy for Sports to the mayor of Bordeaux), Arnaud De Carli (member of the Club Scapulaire), Bruno Fievet (having and investor having had a takeover project for the club) and Guy Cotret (member of the board of directors).

Jussie absent… for now

In this list, a name has for the moment disappeared, it is that of Jussie. As nothing is ever simple at the Girondins de Bordeaux, there seems to have been an imbroglio over the commitment of the club’s former Brazilian striker. He received a proposal on September 23 from Thomas Jacquemier to be part of this 1881 Committee.

But Jussie affirms that he never responded to this invitation, either positively or negatively. The club explains that it has obtained its agreement in principle. Today, even though the door remains open on both sides, no one has bothered to call the other. In particular, Jussie is waiting to find out more about this committee before giving his approval and he will therefore not take part in this first meeting. As a reminder, the 1881 Committee could welcome new members over time.
