A first home run for Colt Keith, the Tigers beat the Blue Jays 6-2

Colt Keith hit his first home run in the majors, Kenta Maeda went five innings on the mound without giving up a run in his return to the mound, and the Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 on Friday night in Detroit.

The Tigers ended a five-game losing streak, their longest losing streak of the season.

With two outs and a full count, Keith sent Alek Manoah’s pitch (1-2) 400 feet to his right in the second inning.

Maeda (2-1) allowed four hits, returning from an illness that had sidelined him since May 7.

In relief, Beau Brieske pitched for two and two thirds innings without giving up a run. Will Vest struck out a pitcher in the eighth inning.

The Blue Jays scored their two runs in the final inning, with two outs at their expense. Davis Schneider and Alejandro Kirk drove in a single against Andrew Chafin.

In four and two-thirds innings of work, Manoah allowed six runs, four of which were earned, on five hits. He also walked twice.
