The dairy company LSDH announced on Friday October 11 that it was ready to collect milk from around fifty farms on the verge of losing their contract with Lactalis. “A number of abandoned producers are very close to our Cholet production plant” (Maine-et-Loire), declared the president of LSDH, Emmanuel Vasseneix. This new factory is not operating at maximum capacity and is facing an influx of additional demand.

The company organized a meeting this week with Lactalis producers. “There is a bit of conditionality, breeders must adhere to our philosophy”specifies the boss of LSDH, who wishes to specify that he is not seeking to make a “com operation, to play the saviors”nor to “create a call for air”. GMO-free cow feed and access to pasture are part of the basis requested from applicants.

The multinational Lactalis, which owns the President, Lactel and Galbani brands, announced that it would gradually reduce its volumes collected in France by almost 9%, with the aim of paying better for each tonne of milk. Around 300 farms will no longer be collected by Lactalis in the east of France and around Vendée.
