“FAA” broke Tsitsipas three times in this duel and never gave his rival the opportunity to do the same. He took the service of the fourth player on the world board for the first time at the first point of this match. Since you don’t change a winning formula, the Maple Leaf representative did exactly the same thing in the second set. He also broke the Greek on the fifth run of the second set.
It was the ninth time Auger-Aliassime reached the final of an ATP singles event. He had played the last match of the tournaments in Stuttgart (2021), Melbourne (2021), Cologne (2020), Marseille (2020), Rotterdam (2020), Stuttgart (2019), Lyon (2019) and Rio de Janeiro (2019) .
The Quebecer had won a doubles title with the Pole Hubert Hurkacz at the Paris Master in 2020. Recently, at the beginning of the last month of January, Auger-Aliassime had greatly contributed to Canada’s victory at the ATP Cup.
