The fire which broke out in the foothills of Chartreuse on Friday evening after a lightning strike suddenly deteriorated overnight from Saturday to Sunday and now threatens two factories where gas is stored, reports France Bleu Isère on Sunday August 7. This was the scenario feared by the firefighters.
The fire which burned about twenty hectares of forest descended in less than an hour towards the departmental 1075, pushed by the violent winds. The road is closed in both directions between Voreppe and La Buisse as a precaution and to allow emergency services to intervene. 25 machines, a Civil Security helicopter and 120 firefighters are mobilized.

“The operation will last because of the presence of fire on the first rock bar. And it is inaccessible for us. We must guarantee the safety of our responders”explained Commander Philippe Letondeur, responsible for the firefighting operation, on Saturday at France Bleu Isère.
