Some 150 firefighters were mobilized on Sunday February 6 in Paris to try to control a fire that ravaged a mansion under construction in the 7th arrondissement. The fire, which did not cause any casualties, broke out on the banks of the Seine, near the residence of the German ambassador, said the Paris firefighters.

In the district of the Musée d’Orsay, the four-storey private mansion affected by this fire, “adjoining the residence of the German ambassador, was being renovated”said a spokesperson for the Paris fire brigade. “More than 150 firefighters have been deployed on site, the fire is not yet completely under control, the damage is considerable”said this spokesperson around 7:30 p.m.

An AFP photographer on the spot noted that the firefighters were spraying the building, the flames no longer being visible in the night. The whole district had been cordoned off, on this quay of the Seine, and the joggers were diverted by the police.
