A fire ravages 5 ha of brush at the Col de Tende

They flew over Nice throughout the end of Monday, going back and forth between the sea and a fire at the Col de Tende. It was through the action of these two canadairs supported, as close as possible to the ground, by two water bomber helicopters and 80 firefighters that the flames at the start of the evening were contained. The report then shows 5 hectares burned. The disaster started at the beginning of the afternoon and would have started from a construction site and a thermal grinder. An investigation is underway by the police. Very quickly, it extended into the slopes of a very steep valley of the Col de Tende and inaccessible on foot. It was therefore with the support of aerial means that the firefighters were able to put an end to the fire. All night, surveillance on the ground prevented a possible recovery. This Tuesday morning, reconnaissance by drone will be provided to identify the still hot spots.

80 firefighters were deployed on the ground.
