Monday, June 13, a fire caused the death of a family in Strasbourg, in the Bas-Rhin. The parents and their two children could not be saved by the firefighters.
Shortly after 5 a.m., a fire broke out in an apartment in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), Monday June 13, causing the death of two people and their two children. “I heard something explode (…) the children screamed, after they fell”, says Annissa Bouktab, witness, who immediately alerted the firefighters. Arrived in a few minutes, the rescuers did not manage to save the victims.
The inhabitants of the building, still in shock, accuse the dilapidation of the HLM housing, where the fire started. “Everything that is current, gas, starters… nothing is up to standard”testifies Sandra Royer, a resident of the district. “Where my son lived, there are cracks, there is water getting in, there are cockroaches, there are rats”, says Christine Wirth, a resident of the neighborhood. The social landlord ensures that the building should be renovated soon. The causes of the fire are not yet known.
