A fight leaves three dead on Le Plateau-Mont-Royal

Three young people, one of whom was only 15 years old, were killed Tuesday evening when a fight turned ugly on Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, in Montreal. The suspects in this case are still at large.

The police were first called around 7 p.m. Tuesday to go to an alley located between Saint-André and Mentana streets. When officers arrived on scene, they found three youths who had been injured by a sharp object.

The three victims, aged 15, 23 and 25, were transported to hospital, where their condition was considered critical. Wednesday morning, the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) confirmed that all three had died.

So these are the 14e15e and 16e murders to occur this year in the territory served by the SPVM, said agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, who is spokesperson for the police force.

Shortly after the events, another SPVM spokesperson mentioned that, according to initial information, the three men had been injured during a conflict which degenerated in the alley.

The suspects fled before the police arrived on scene.

As of Wednesday morning, the SPVM was still looking for suspects in connection with this case, so no arrests had been made. A command post was deployed near the crime scene to facilitate the investigation work.

“Currently, investigators and police officers are checking surveillance cameras and trying to meet witnesses to find out a little more about the circumstances surrounding this event,” said Officer Brabant.

The investigation is being carried out by the major crimes section of the SPVM. Investigators received assistance from forensic identification technicians and the canine squad during the analysis of the crime scene.

Rue Rachel is still closed in both directions between avenue Christophe-Colomb and rue Saint-André.
