In Turkey, Tuesday, February 14, despite the dwindling hope, rescuers are still hard at work trying to find survivors of the earthquake in the rubble.

Only a few hours left before the opening and the reception of the first patients. It’s a race against time, there are still boxes to move, drugs to sort. In just 48 hours, France managed to build a field hospital in southeastern Turkey, which can accommodate up to 100 patients a day. And there was a real need. The nearby hospital is no longer operational, there are problems with electricity, water, heating.

Face all scenarios

In the destroyed city, the inhabitants sleep outside in tents, they are relieved. “It’s very good that they are there, because there was no one to help us”, said a resident. It is a hospital with all the essential services which is about to open, from the shock room to the surgery. A lot of care has therefore been taken in this tent. Stuffed animals were hung from the ceiling of the maternity ward. The difficulty for these caregivers is that they must be ready to face all scenarios, while they do not know how many patients will arrive, eight days after the earthquake.
