This is THE topic of the day in France. This Sunday, April 24, 2022 marks the second round of the presidential election. A political and media event that will also serve as a backdrop for an unprecedented cinematic experience in France and Europe. Shooting and broadcasting a fiction film in real time just before the results in a village in Lot-et-Garonne. day of glorye with Félix Moati and Julien Campani is to be discovered this evening on Arte.tv between 7 p.m. and 8:05 p.m.

A few hours before the start, directors Jeanne Frenkel and Cosme Castro and the entire film crew hold their breath.

For Day of Glory, the two directors Jeanne Frenkel and Cosme Castro follow the reunion of two brothers, played by Félix Moati and Julien Campani. After the death of their mother, everything opposes them, and the mood of reunion is suspended at this fateful hour: 8 p.m. The announcement of a new president. During this historic moment, the two brothers will live a poetic and heartbreaking adventure.

After Farewell bohemianat the Opéra Bastille, in 2017, and Prom, in 2018 on YouTube, the two directors once again adopted their audacious filming process which they call “metacinema”. A kind of creation that “consists of showing films at the same time as they are shot or shooting films at the same time as they are shown“.

This new project, shot and broadcast live, requires significant technical and narrative prowess. “There is very little improvisation, the only place we leave is to bounce back on the climate in general and also on the electrical tension that there will be that evening”, comments director Cosme Castro. For the two actors, this is a first. “The timing and the gestures are extremely precise, the technical team at the razor, it’s absolutely exciting”, assures Felix Moati. The music composed by Flavien Berger will also be played live.

Over the course of a long sequence shot of one hour and five minutes, glory day takes the viewer on a journey captured on the spot, where each place crossed, from the station to the town hall, from the bar to the family home, tells a part of the story of the protagonists. 80 people are mobilized on the set in this village in the south-west that they want to keep secret. A film of more than an hour, without cutting, without editing with on-board cameras controlled in control and 4G antennas installed along the route established to the nearest second.

day of glory it is also the face of France, one evening of the second round of the presidential election from a town in Lot-et-Garonne where fiction collides with reality. The promise of a version shifted from the result of the election that actors and spectators will discover together at 8 p.m. “It’s a completely crazy technical challenge and at the same time it’s a very melancholic and intimate story, the mixture of all these things makes it very unique and obviously there is the result of the presidential election at the end of the film”, details director Jeanne Frenkel.

“Jour de Gloire” is broadcast on the arte.tv website and on its YouTube channel. It will also be screened simultaneously in around thirty theaters in France.
