With an upper-body injury on Saturday, forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had to end his overseas stint with the Oilers early to return to Edmonton. His condition will be reassessed weekly.
That’s what head coach Jay Woodcroft revealed to the media on Tuesday. His protege left Saturday’s first-period matchup against the Florida Panthers and did not take part in the game against the Carolina Hurricanes the following day.
“Nugent-Hopkins went [à Edmonton]as his condition is not being reassessed on a daily basis,” Woodcroft said.
The forward has so far scored seven goals and 37 points in 45 games this season.
The Oilers are scheduled to face the Flyers on Tuesday in Philadelphia and the Blackhawks on Thursday in Chicago. They will then return to Edmonton to host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday at 7 p.m. This meeting will be broadcast on TVA Sports.
