A few games away for Sergei Bobrovsky

Injured in the first moments of Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to miss about three games.

That’s what head coach Paul Maurice said in his press briefing on Saturday, announcing that Alex Lyon will be the team’s goalkeeper on the night against the Minnesota Wild. The latter had kept the net at the exit of Bobrovsky and had made 23 saves in the 6-2 victory over the Habs.

“We were worried when we released it, because you never know, but it’s way better than we expected. He could return next weekend. We don’t think we’ll see him for the next three games,” Maurice said of the goalkeeper with a lower body injury.

The Russian went 12-13-2 with a 3.24 goals-against average and .897 save percentage.

On Friday, the Panthers sent Spencer Knight to the American League, who will return to form after a virus. Mack Guzda went the other way and was Lyon’s assistant on Saturday night.
