As new exchanges of fire have taken place between Israel and Lebanon, tensions remain high between the two countries. The UN fears a possible escalation.

An airstrike on the village of Chihine, just across the border in southern Lebanon. The strikes follow a salvo of rockets fired the day before and intercepted by the Iron Dome. The Israeli army continues its bombardment of infrastructure that it says belongs to Hezbollah, a Shiite ally of Hamas. Earlier this week, the IDF released propaganda footage showing military exercises in the north of the country.

However, the general staff assures that it does not want to attack Lebanon. “Our war is not against the people of Gaza. Our war is not against the Lebanese, but against Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iranian regime”, declared the army. Since October 7, exchanges of fire have been frequent between southern Lebanon and northern Israel. Enough to make the United Nations fear an escalation of tensions in the region. In southern Lebanon, according to the Ministry of Health, Israeli air attacks left at least 435 dead and 1,800 injured.
