Buying real estate could well become more accessible to future buyers. This is attested to by brokers, who confirm that banks are accepting loans more easily at the start of 2024.
Is this a brightening in the real estate market? The dream of a family who has just bought a 300 m² house is about to come true, after a year of research. An emergency, for the couple with five children who until now lived in an 80 m² house. After four mortgage loan refusals, they finally went through a broker, and obtained a loan of 62,000 euros over 25 years, at a rate of 4.20%.
Rising credit requests
According to Laurent Gomez, associate director of La Maison des Courtiers, banks have been lending more easily since January. “We feel a drop in rates, factually, (…) and a willingness of banks to support us, and to support customers”, he assures the France 2 teams. And the buyers have felt it. Since last October, credit requests have jumped 30% at one of the main brokers. Borrowing rates are also more attractive.
