A famous columnist by Laurent Ruquier reveals that her child suffers from “mental retardation”

If she spoke about her years with Laurent Ruquier in “We tried everything” and in particular this time when she revealed a big scoop on Alexandra Lamy and Jean Dujardin, Péri Cochin also spoke about her family life with Jordan de Luxe, this October 24, on C8. The columnist revealed that she had been pregnant at 49, and that at the time of this pregnancy, she was afraid that the child (a girl who would be called Andréa) that she was carrying would be born with health problems.

“I raised a child with problems”

On the set of “At Jordan’s“, she explained about her daughter: “The only thing that scared me, before she was born, was that she would have a problem. Because I raised a child with problems.” Godmother for 15 years of the Papillons Blancs de Paris association, which works in the interest of people with mental/cognitive disabilities and their families, she confided in her second husband’s son, the fruit of a previous union, which she took care of as her own.

She explained: “It’s Maxime, we never really knew what he had. For years, we did tests but we found nothing. In fact he has a mental handicap, he is very late. And so, when we experienced that once, we say to ourselves that it’s the adventure of life. But we’re not going to try to reproduce the same story. So I was afraid that the tests wouldn’t be good, so we did all the tests and I told the geneticist who was in charge of all the tests at the time, ‘listen, I’ve already raised a child who has problems, I really want to be sure that…’ well, we’re never really sure surprises in life, in any case put things on this child’s side, to avoid possible problems.”

“We have a beautiful daughter”

In the end, Péri Cochin had no red flags. She concluded this story by stating: “All the tests are fantastic, everything is going well and, in the end, we have a beautiful girl who I adore and who is awesome and in great shape”. Andréa is now 8 years old, almost 9.
