The Parotte family has just acquired a village house for 1 euro in Saint-Amand-Montrond (Cher). “It’s like I won the lottery.” considers the mother of the family. The residence, which belonged to the town hall, is worth 27,000 euros and has an area of ​​90 m². Work is planned. “We encrypted. But since the majority of the work will be done by us, then it comes back to us between 70,000 and 90,000 euros. We don’t know if there will be any surprises, but for now it’s more or less our budget“, considers the future owner.

For the town hall, the challenge is to revitalize its territory. “It brings us inhabitants in the city center and it is this human wealth that we are looking for. We have a much larger operation which aims to renovate shops in the city center“, explains the mayor, Francis Blondieau. In return, the future owners have committed to employing local businesses and occupying the accommodation for at least six years. The Parotte family was chosen from 67 other applicants.
