A face-to-face collision on Highway 50 leaves two dead and two injured

Two people died and two were seriously injured after a head-on collision that occurred Saturday evening on Highway 50 between the towns of Lachute and Mirabel.




The accident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 50, near Chemin des sources, near kilometer 267.

According to initial information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), one of the two vehicles deviated from its lane, which caused a face-to-face collision.

In one of the vehicles were a 37-year-old driver as well as a female passenger in her thirties and a child. They were all seriously injured and taken to hospital, but unfortunately the driver did not survive his injuries. The woman and child are out of danger.

The driver of the second vehicle involved, aged 74, also suffered significant injuries and died in hospital. She was alone in the car.

Police officers specializing in collision scene reconstruction were dispatched to the scene in order to better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding this accident.

Highway 50, between Route 329, in Lachute, and Route 148, in Mirabel, has been closed in both directions for an indefinite period.
