A European arrest warrant has been issued against Imam Hassan Iquioussen, franceinfo learned Thursday, September 1 from a source familiar with the matter, confirming information from BFMTV. The Moroccan imam has not been found since Tuesday and the validation by the Council of State of his expulsion.
The imam’s home had been searched Tuesday afternoon in Lourches (North). But the Moroccan imam could not be found, despite a large police presence in his town. The prefect of Hauts-de-France said Wednesday, during a press conference, that Hassan Iquioussen was likely to have fled to Belgium.
“The scenario that is favored today is an escape to Belgium by Hassan Iquioussen”declared the prefect, qualifying the preacher, implicated for remarks deemed contrary to the values of the Republic, of “offender” since then “that he evaded an expulsion order”.
