Five humanitarian workers were hit by a drone attack in Beryslav, Ukraine. Two French people were killed and three others injured on Thursday February 1. All of them were volunteers in the Kherson region. On the X platform, Emmanuel Macron denounced a “cowardly and unworthy act”. The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, also reacted. “Russian terror knows neither borders nor nationalities of victims”he wrote on the social network, welcoming “the courageous French humanitarians”.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, also condemned the bombing and accused “Russian barbarism. (…) Russia will have to answer for its crimes.” Eleven French nationals have died in Ukraine since the start of the war two years ago. Russia continues to relentlessly shell the south of the country. The Ukrainian Air Force says the Russian military sent 24 attack drones overnight from Thursday to Friday. Eleven of them were reportedly destroyed.
