Defenseman Miguël Tourigny scored two goals, including the winning net in the first period, allowing the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada to go from there with a 7-1 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles on Friday at Center 200.
With 14 goals and 16 assists in 20 games, Tourigny shows statistics worthy of a striker this season. He extended his streak of games with at least one point to eight, amassing 16 points in the process.
Mikaël Denis also threaded the needle twice while Zachary Roy was an accomplice of three goals.
Home goaltender Rémi Delafontaine faced a 48-shot barrage, yielding seven times. Simon Lavigne, Charles Boutin and Simon Pinard also defeated him, while Jacob Squires provided the Eagles’ shy reply.
Zachary L’Heureux hits hard
In Halifax, it was a pair of goals from Zachary L’Heureux that made the difference for the Mooseheads, who beat the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 5-2.
The Nashville Predators first-round pick opened the scoring after just 1:54 into the game. Jordan Dumais added to the home team’s lead 49 seconds later.
L’Heureux’s second goal, at the start of the second period, turned out to be the winning goal, as only Daniil Bourash and Samuel Johnson were able to defeat the vigilance of Mooseheads goaltender James Brady.
Robert Orr and Elliot Desnoyers were the other scorers for the winners.
