Loire-Atlantique: a donation of 100,000 euros for the Châteaubriand police – (franceinfo)
100,000 euros were offered to the municipality of Châteaubriand, in Loire-Atlantique. The anonymous donor, a resident, wants the sum to be allocated to the municipal police.
For Christmas, the town hall of Châteaubriand (Loire-Atlantique) was given a check for 100,000 euros, by a mysterious donor whose desire is to strengthen the municipal police. “I think we must appreciate this gesture and above all talk about it, because you have 36,000 municipalities in France, and I think that there may be potential donors who do not think about it for municipal action“, comments Alain Hunault, the mayor (LR) of the city.
Video protection cameras
The majority of the sum will be invested in new video surveillance cameras. A security policy desired by the city for more than ten years. After the installation of this equipment, the city will have 71 cameras for 12,000 inhabitants. In Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), there are ten times fewer: ten cameras per 12,000 inhabitants. The quantity of equipment concerns the elected representatives of the opposition.
